It's the 200th anniversary of the beginning of the War of 1812, and while that's probably not of much importance to the rest of the country, it's a very big deal in Baltimore. If you think back a bit to your Amerian History classes, you'll remember Fort McHenry, Frances Scott Key, and the national anthem. Well, this was the war and Baltimore was the place, and while we didn't win much of anything else in this war (also remember that the British burned Washington), we did come out of it with the song that is now heard at baseball parks around the country.
Baltimore's celebration of this anniversary involved tall ships from around the world, naval vessels moored from Baltimore to Annapolis, and an air show by the Blue Angels. It was quite impressive and we had a great day at the Inner Harbor of Baltimore.
